Jenny was working for a Title company in Santa Ana and gave her notice on November 1st (the day after I received my orders to Vietnam). She worked through November and now we were both free until December 20th. We planned on staying in our apartment until the end of the year. After I left for Vietnam she planned to move to Fresno and start the spring semester at Fresno State College.
Somehow we remained at ease with the situation. Looking back, I think we were both a little naive about how difficult our separation would be. There were no cell phones, internet, texting, Skype, etc. All of our communication would be by U.S. Mail. Of course we had already done this during our engagement (writing letters). We looked at the situation as a temporary interruption.
